The PMP is aimed at professional project managers with proven experience. The have outlined the following minimum criteria that candidates need to fulfil before you take the exam:

  • Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • 7,500 hours leading and directing projects (5 years of project management experience)
  • 35 hours of project management education (35 contact hours of Formal Project Management Education: Typically, Four Days Classroom/40 Hours E-Learning Program)

OR

  • Four-year degree
  • 4,500 hours leading and directing projects
  • 35 hours of project management education (35 contact hours of Formal Project Management Education: Typically, Four Days Classroom/40 Hours E-Learning Program).
  • In both cases this experience must have been accumulated within eight years prior to your application submission.

Also, you’ll need a computer or tab with an internet connection and it’s better to have a notepad and a pen with you.

This course is designed so you can get certified, and requires you to have some experience working in projects and project management. Participants will need to meet the requirements set out by , so make sure you check the requirements above.

Exam Format
  • The exam consists of 200 questions
  • Of the 200 questions, 25 are considered pre-test questions
  • Pre-test questions do not affect the score
  • Computer based testing is the standard method of administration for examinations.
  • The allotted time for the CBT examination is four hours
  • Exams are available via testing centres (prometric)

If you pass the exam successfully then you will be awarded a Certificate in Project Management Professional. 

To maintain your PMP, you must earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years.
