Basic Legionella Management

Overview

Legionella, if left unmanaged, can lead to a fatal form of pneumonia in all those affected by it. Legionella must be controlled at all times particularly in people working in buildings and on-site. Those responsible for the health of their workers include building owners and managers and facilities managers. The Health and Safety at Work Act states that there is a legal duty to manage Legionella. Basic Legionella Management will inform you of the dangers of legionella and why it is important to nominate a responsible person to maintain the water system. The course will train you on how to manage legionella risks on-site, carry out review risk assessments and implement strategies that adhere to the HSG’s updated code of practice. There are key modules explored in this course that will provide a thorough overview of how to plan water sampling, testing programmes, design maintenance schedules, and identify potential risks related to the water system and how to control it.
Basic Legionella Management features practical advice and guidance on the importance of maintaining the water system when working in buildings, maintenance and facilities. This is a RoSPA certified course that will demonstrate to potential employers that you are continually developing yourself, and will make you a desirable candidate across the building and maintenance industries.
